The writer Stephen King once said that he prefers to write a few short stories and novellas between two novels in order to get away from the big picture, clear his head and set everything to zero. It feels the same for us when we release various EPs, 7 "s or - as in this case - cover versions between two albums. No pressure, no songwriting treadmill, just having fun with songs we like and think we can add a nuance or two to.
That's what happened with "Ohne dich" by Münchener Freiheit, with "Die Welt kann mich nicht mehr verstehen" by Tocotronic and now with "Denkmal" by Wir sind Helden and "21, 22, 23" by AnnenMayKantereit.
Songs we would never have written that way, but which fit perfectly into our little KMPFSPRT universe with 1-2 small changes. A good song is a good song and we hope to pay tribute to the covered bands - no matter how different they sound from us in the original.
The two songs were recorded, produced and mixed by Menny Leusmann and Jochen Müller at Monkey Moon Recordings, the master was done by Jochen Müller.
